Argus Intel ("Argus", "we", "us", or "our") operates argusintel.net. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. If you have questions, contact us at hello@argusintel.net.
Account information: When you sign up, we collect your work email address and, when you set a password, a hashed (bcrypt) version of it. We never store plaintext passwords.
Competitive intelligence data you configure: You provide the names and domains of companies you want to track. This is the core input to the service.
Usage data: We log actions taken within the dashboard (adding companies, triggering scans, viewing briefs) to operate and improve the service. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or full payment details. We receive from Stripe: your email address, subscription status, and Stripe customer ID.
Communications preferences: Your alert preferences, Slack webhook URL, keyword lists, and brief day preferences are stored to deliver the service you configure.
To provide the service, Argus monitors publicly available data about the companies you configure, including: public GitHub repositories, publicly posted job listings, public news sources, publicly accessible website pages, public patent filings (USPTO), public SEC filings (EDGAR), and public product review platforms. We only access publicly available information — no private or confidential data sources.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with:
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Argus or its users.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Signals and briefs are retained for 90 days by default. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@argusintel.net — we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
We use industry-standard practices including bcrypt password hashing, HTTPS-only communication, and SQLite WAL-mode with access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We use a single session cookie (argus_session) to keep you logged in. This is a functional cookie required to operate the service — no advertising or tracking cookies are used. We also set an argus_ref cookie when you visit via a referral link, to credit the referrer if you sign up.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
To exercise these rights, email hello@argusintel.net. We will respond within 30 days.
Argus is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we become aware of such data being collected, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the dashboard. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
